Police: UConn football player stabbed to death

Saturday night saw Connecticut defeating Louisville at their home field. Junior, 20 year old Cornerback, Jasper Howard was awarded the game ball for becoming the MVP of the game. Later that night their was a school sponsored dance at a community center on campus. Around 12:26 A.M. a fire alarm was pulled and over 300 students rushed out onto the street to await the news of what was going on. While waiting, two groups of friends broke out in a fight against each other. Howard and another man were the victims of a stabbing during the fight. They both were later airlifted to a local medical hospital, where Jasper was later pronounced dead, the other student was treated and released. This came to a sudden impact for many students and family members of Jasper. An outstanding athlete was about to become a dad in the near future as well. He will be remembered for both qualities.

Sudden death is something that cannot be described in one sentence, not even two. When you hang out with a friend or if you are older and know someone that is heard as being an all-around nice person, you do not expect that person to be victim of anything. At the most you expect them to just go about their business and move onto bigger and better things in life. Jasper represents this type of person. I see him as a potential success in life that got side blocked by trouble. When you read this article you do not just think of what he lost, his life, also you think of what his family, future children, and friends lost that day. An all-out athlete, a student, a best friend, a son, a brother, and etc. It makes you think that some things in life are not fair. That each day you wake up, think of something you want to make a difference with and do it. Enjoy life to the fullest while taking a chance. Catch your dreams.
